May 3rd JES Orioles Day Rescheduled for September 12th

Dear Jacksonville families and staff,
The tragic events in Baltimore this week have greatly saddened and concerned us. We will work with the school on ways our community can help, especially with our students affected when a family business burned.
The May 3rd JES Orioles Day game has been relocated to Tampa Bay, Florida. The Orioles have offered to exchange tickets for other home games but will not issue refunds. Our intent with this event was to enjoy the Orioles game together as a group. The PTA is working with the Orioles to reschedule our group event for Saturday, September 12, 1:05pm. (Unfortunately, individuals do NOT have the option to exchange for any other games. We had to choose either a complete group exchange or ALL individual exchanges, and significant extra charges would have been required for individual exchanges due to our deeply discounted group prices.) All May 3rd tickets held by our group will be voided by the Orioles.
By May 8th, please send your tickets to school in their original envelopes so we can return them to the Orioles per their request. (If you do not have that Orioles envelope, please place tickets in another envelope labeled with “Orioles tickets” and student name & homeroom.)
While we know that the events in Baltimore are vastly more significant and heartbreaking than missing a baseball game, we’re still disappointed as we know our children will be. On behalf of the PTA, I sincerely apologize for any difficulty that rescheduling this event may cause you. Thank you so much for your understanding. Also, we’re grateful to Christina Michael (cmichael0609@verizon.net) for her excellent work in organizing – and reorganizing – this event.
Our thoughts remain with those who have experienced so much loss and hardship this week – we hope for a peaceful recovery for all and the opportunity to help where we can.
