Assist art teachers with making the large, paper portfolios used by the children to bring home their artwork. Chairperson: Ruut DeMeo (, Melanie Hansen (

Help with planning and setting up for the spring and fall blood drives. Assist during the blood drives at Jacksonville Elementary School with check in, serving refreshments, etc. Chairperson: Lindsey Nixon (; Tera Parson (

Box Tops, Labels for Education, and Tyson Project A+, make a big difference at JES! Help us count and submit them to earn thousands of dollars for our school and spread the word about these programs. Counting can be done at home – usually 2 hours/month. Chairperson: Eva Bailey (

Assist lunchroom aides by handing out utensils and opening pre-packaged items for students. Each day we have two, 1 hour and 15 minute shifts, and we need 1-2 volunteers per shift. A “JES Cafeteria Helpers” Sign-Up Website has been created for the 2018-2019 school year for your flexibility and advance planning. This is a fun way to volunteer throughout the year and see your child in a more relaxed social setting with their friends. Chairperson: Claire Marmen (

Assist with teacher-directed activities in the classroom. Sign-ups will be provided by your teacher and/or Room Parent. Opportunities are offered at the discretion of each teacher.

Assist faculty representative with planning and implementation of student assemblies. Chairperson: Still Needed

Assist in planning and coordinating PTA fundraising such as restaurant nights and the silent auction, business sponsorship, and grant applications. Can be done from home/office. Contacts: Marisa Breslow, VP Ways & Means (

Assist Green School faculty committee with various activities through the year, including cafeteria drink pouch recycling, classroom marker recycling, JES gardening, Earth Day, etc. Chairpersons: Kat Brayton (

Assisting school nurse with non-health care related duties such as escorting students for hearing/vision screens, bulletin boards, photocopying, and other miscellaneous duties. Chairperson: Melissa DuCroix, School Nurse, ( 410.683.8351

Do you like cooking or baking (or have a favorite bakery that does it for you) or enjoy being a “hostess with the mostest”? Throughout the year, we will be hosting a bunch of fun events for parents and teachers and staff. We act as greeters and provide goodies during American Education Week. We also show our gratitude for the teachers and staff by hosting our annual “Souper Bowl” and our Teacher Appreciation Week breakfast and luncheon. Help with shelving books, checking books in and out for the students and various other activities throughout the year. Assist with annual Book Fair. Chairperson: Erin Graff (

Plan and implement programs to help children develop values and social consciousness throughout the year. Includes the Outreach Club, Beans and Bread, clothing drives, holiday gift drives and various other charitable events to help our community and JES families. Many activities suitable to do with your preschooler. Chairperson: Alicia Matesa (

Laminate, duplicate and prepare materials for teachers throughout the year. You may stop in at any time on your scheduled day to complete the tasks. You can sign up on the days that work best for you. Chairperson: Erin Graff (

Room Parents are responsible for lending/coordinating assistance to the teachers in the classroom. Helping to plan class parties and other activities throughout the year. See your individual homeroom teachers when school starts back! Chairperson: Tiffany Sherren (

We are excited to once again offer JES students the opportunity to support their school by purchasing fun school supplies at our school store.
5TH grade students and parents needed to run school store on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings (October to May) from 9:00 to 9:20am. Chairperson: Cecilia Donohue (
