We will be providing Breakfast Bags for Beans and Bread, again this year. Breakfast should consist of entrée (prepackaged bowl of cereal, muffin, Danish, granola bar, etc), a piece of fruit, and a juice box. Other items for donation (in addition to breakfast): coffee, tea, creamer, sugar
ABOUT BEANS AND BREAD: Beans & Bread, located in the Fells Point area of Baltimore City, is a homeless day resource center offering day shelter and a place of respite for hungry, homeless and needy persons. Each day, over 400 individuals come to Beans & Bread for the help they need in their daily struggle for survival. By combining essential life preserving services with life building resources, Beans & Bread seeks to stabilize and strengthen the individual, providing them with tools to be self-sufficient, live independently and be an asset to their family and the community.
WHAT WE DO: Beans& Bread collections will occur the fourth Wednesday of every month. Once a month we will send a brown bag home with each student. These will be distributed the day before the collection. We encourage each child to make a breakfast, with their parents, to donate. Please feel free to send in as many breakfasts as you wish, especially during the cold winter months. We can never have “too many” breakfasts to donate! Please label the outside of the bag with the entrée enclosed and encourage your child to draw a picture or write a note on the bag. Each child should drop their lunch in the collection bags in the lobby as they enter school on the morning of the collection.
